Cracker Jack: Yes I followed the thread to reboot the EEPROM from a micro SD card from the Rasberry Pi Imager. No change.
MiscBits: I have tried multiple power supplies. One is a USB C power cable plugged into the mains socket in the wall. Another is a USB C cable plugged into an Apple charging socket. The third was power through the battery that I bought to go with the Pi. No change in state regardless of which power source was used. The power seems to be fine (ie solid red light) but the green light only flashes once and then goes dead. Unfortunately I don’t have a multimeter to test any of the voltages. And I have also tried to unplug everything but the power supply and screen to see if that made a difference, which it didn’t.
