I wouldn't install the Full version on a Pi Zero or Zero 2W. It contains a lot of extra packages that you probably won't use. Some of them can be very large and it is probably that which is causing the upgrade issue.
Generally I use the Lite version on a Zero. If I wanted a desktop I would install the Standard version. Any extra software that is included on the Full version can be installed if required.
