Thanks, MiscBits! This is exactly what I was looking for.Use the Pi Imager to set up the SD Card
Set the WiFi details in here (unless you are using Ethernet) and do not forget to set up a user (please do not use pi/raspberry)
Allow time for the Pi to boot the first time
In the Mac terminal program use ssh to connect to the Pi as per the docs linked above
Use raspi-config to enable VNC (IIRC it still defaults to TigerVNC not RealVNC but I've lost track and no spare Pi to image at the mo).
Off you go - remember to make backups as you use the Pi - as a bare minimum:
- Use the built in SD Card copier
- Use RonRs imaging utils viewtopic.php?t=332000
