Knowing why they need to know, or use case, is the difference between a "don't worry about it, you're good" answer and "Yup, you need to worry about it, here are a few different ways to deal with it."
Neither of which answer the questions asked.

And how does anyone know if someone does or doesn't need to worry about it when the answer isn't known ?

They are simple questions; what is the Absolute Maximum VIN of a Pi5, what is the electrical specification of any over-voltage device fitted to it.

The Raspberry Pi 4 Datasheet specifies Absolute Maximum VIN as 6V - Is it the same for the Pi 5 ?
