Beginners • Raspberry Pi 5 Electrostatic Discharge-protected?

Hello,

I have a question today.

I just purchased a new Raspberry Pi 5 8GB. It was delivered in a carton box, without any ESD warning/sticker/bag (which is very surprising to me).

There is a pictogram on a paper delivered, which shows you must not touch the Raspberry while it is powered on.

When I search the internet for information regarding Raspberry Pi 5 and ESD, I note some websites say that modern Raspberries are protected against damage caused by ESD, hence there are no warnings, and you just should not touch it while powered on.

But I highly doubt this. ESD can seriously damage hardware, and the Pi seems like a delicate piece of it.

Could someone explain if the Raspberry Pi 5 is indeed ESD-protected which makes damage unlikely, or should we still follow ESD guidelines to prevent damage?

Thank you in advance.

Kind regards,

Joey1
