Agreed, beyond mere mortals. But we don't know if an MQTT solution will avoid those bugs. If it does then, yes, I can accept it as a legitimate workround. Anything which works is better than something which doesn't.This is already more effort than my proposalGet whatever those bugs are fixed and it will work as expected.
The half hour or less to get MQTT working was somewhat optimistic I think. It's taken me an hour to get my host test program updated and working with MQTT and it turned out I already had 'paho-mqtt' and 'mosquitto' installed. Now onto figuring out how to get MQTT running on a PIco.
It should be easy enough for the host to discover Pico, perhaps similar to how MQTT would do it, but, you are right, that would need to be done to avoid hard-wired IP Addresses.and also doesn't account for discovery of the devices to which the server would want to send the images.
