That fixed it. I'm guessing the VPU Clock impacts i2c clock.If you use "dtoverlay=disable-bt" to disable Bluetooth, then it swaps the more capable UART from Bluetooth duties to GPIOs 14&15 as /dev/ttyAMA0. IIRC That doesn't require the core clock to be locked, so may give different results with detecting your Pivariety sensor.
