run those lines to a CH330 - UART to USB IC
CH330 is a USB to serial chip. It adds a UART to a USB capable host. It doesn't work in reverse to give USB capabilities to a device with a UART.
Is this workable?
No. You need something like a MAX3421E SPI USB host controller.
What are the downfalls of using this method?
It'll be incredibly slow even with the MAX3421E. USB 2.0 Full Speed = 12Mbps.
