Hello,
In many places I see that the new Raspbian bookworm is advertised with Wayland, with significant improvements
Release date: November 19, 2024
System: 32-bit
Kernel version: 6.6
My question is: since it is marked on the download page as supported by all boards, does this guarantee that Wayland will run normally on the Raspberry Pi 1 B+ ARMV6 without serious issues... (What I need is just a desktop display and software written primarily in Python, will it load the graphical environment at all, because I have tested with the previous Bullseye and Bookworm, but without success... which at this point I am stuck on the old Buster 10.. also i know its stopped supporting omxplayer but there is no one light player as it and playing loop videos 360p smoothly.. ok if not wayland just i will switch to X but what i need is light video player which to play 360p and python minimum 3.12
VLC (cvlc CLI variant) can replace omxplayer. It can work without X or Wayland, but needs DRM enabled (KMS V3D statement, see your config.txt). It is smooth 960p30 playing that I did from camera recording. You can enable boot to console via raspi-config.
Python 3.12 is the real PITA to get working in RPiOS32 Bookworm I think. There are tricks to ease it I think, but I am not a experienced python user/programmer.
