After all that concerning fan speed and PWM (for which thanks again aBUGSworstnightmare), I realized a previous pi4 fan issue has reappeared. That is, the fan goes full on again as soon as I power off the pi4. I had a previous thread about that, and had gotten it working. That was probably pre-bookworm, though. Does anyone have any thoughts on why the previous fix isn no longer sufficient? Which fix was changing EEPROM settings to:

                        WAKE_ON_GPIO=0                POWER_OFF_ON_HALT=1

... and then being aware of the reversed halt and poweroff when choosing a command to shut down, as reported by RonR: viewtopic.php?t=283849
