imager_1.8.5.exe for Windows1) Which version of Imager for what platform?Hello,
I don't know what else I can try. I've been trying to get the Pi up and running for over 5 hours.
Today my new Raspberry Pi 5 (8 GB) arrived with the extra power supply for it (27 W). I first had a new SanDisk Extreme 128 GB microSDXC -A2- -v30- U3 bought from the store and tried to install various operating systems (64-bit) as normal with the Raspbian Imager. I actually got an error once when installing Ubuntu 24.04.01 TLS Desktop, but unfortunately I can't remember the exact error. After that I wanted to try Raspberry Pi OS but after 30 minutes it only had 16% and I canceled it.
I had read on the Internet that the Pi supposedly does not support more than 32 GB as microSD, I quickly bought a 32 GB SanDisk Extreme in the store and tried again with the Raspbian Imager to install Ubuntu Desktop, with success.
When I connect the Pi to the monitor and start it up, the Ubuntu icon with the loading circle appears, then there is only a dark green monitor (in the picture the green is brighter than it is). The cursor is also visible and can be moved, but then it doesn't seem to install anything.
I have also tried to install the Ubuntu image with Etcher (https://ubuntu.com/download/raspberry-pi) but again it only boots up and then the screen is green.
I installed Ubuntu Desktop on my old RPi 4 Model B (2 GB) a few years ago and it boots normally with the same monitor. SD card is a SanDisk Ultra instead of Extreme, does that make a difference?
I hope someone has a solution how I can solve the problem, it shouldn't be that difficult.... It's annoying me.
Greetings

2) AIUI (and things may have changed) support for (some) A2 cards is "work in progress"/very recent (I've not yet tested personally).
3) W.r.t. "the Pi supposedly does not support more than 32 GB" that's incorrect, but cards >32GB are uSDXC and some built-in card slots on other devices or older USB card readers/writers may not support that card type unless explicitly stated to do so.
FWIW I've successfully tested and booted from several uSDXC card types upto 128GB as prices decreased however, whilst I did use Imager to write an appropriate version of Raspberry PiOS to them that was usually done with another Pi and known SDXC supporting USB card readers/writers. For some notes, screenshots etc. see here: https://www.cpmspectrepi.uk/raspberry_p ... cards.html
