Anything WS2812/NeoPixel based should work. Your issue is likely going to be powering it, as no power output on a Raspberry Pi delivers enough power to reliably light 64 full-sized Neopixels at full brightness. Powering NeoPixels | Adafruit NeoPixel Überguide | Adafruit Learning System might help with that.
Even though it's meant for a different form factor, if you want 8x8 RGB and you don't mind tiny, Lolin's 8x8 RGB Shield has 64 very small RGB LEDs in a square matrix that likely could run from the +5V line. I have a couple of these and they're extremely bright.
