Modern NVME are over 20X the NVMe speed benched here.
Modern SD speed are a lot higher too, even with the A2 boost the Pi now has.
Modern Ethernet and Modern USB devices are also speed are also limited on the Pi.
But you have to draw a line somewhere for the cost and actual use and reach a balance.
Even a SATA SSD seems fast enough for the Pi5.
