Wow! minus 40. I can't imagine being that cold. Where I live, freezing temperatures are incredibly rare and very short lived. I think that I'd move somewhere warmer. ![;)]( "Wink")
Do you get issues with the lead acid batteries in your vehicle at those temperature?
Could you not set the PI up in an easily removable way..So you just unplug it and take it indoors at night, then take it to the car with you. It should never get cold enough to be an issue then.
