In essence, this Pico should collect data from a couple of sensors, while it's on the lake. And we still want to have some ability to access it remotely. At the moment, we have this thingy - https://inhandgo.com/products/indtu324- ... lar-modems (RS485 option), and it works well enough. Last summer, I used Modbus over TCP to communicate with Pico. It worked great, BUT I discovered a few bugs that I couldn't fix since there was no physical access.
As an improvement, I want to have the ability to update the scripts. REPL sounds like a great idea, but if it doesn't work, then it's ok. And having a working RS485 is the first step to answering this question.
