Interfacing (DSI, CSI, I2C, etc.) • Re: RS-232 on Raspberry Pi 5

Fortunately, the Raspberry Pi 5 actually can do all of the 9-pin RS-232 functions, it seems. Looking at the datasheet, it seems to have them all as alternate functions on GPIO pins. Unfortunately some of those pins I'm using for a HAT already, so I can't have those pins. But I don't think I'll need DTR, DSR, or RI.

So far, I'm planning to use TX, RX, and GND from the Pi5's 3-pin UART port, plus CTS and RTS from function a4 of GPIO 16 and 17 respectively. But without being 100% sure of the pinout of that 3-pin port, I can't continue for fear of damaging it.
