Well I'll put you down as not a fan.

Look, I guess there are some residual bad feelings about deprecations. I did not mean to poke a sensitive spot, nor blame any particular agency. Ubuntu 22.04 had sysfs gpio, and we started using it early this year. Ubuntu 24.04 does not and we had to scramble. That's that. No raging or blame-finding but being extra cautious.

No. We do not use any utility that doesn't pass a credibility test. I look for things like: Man page, fulsome documentation, responsive issues pages on GitHub, some longevity and stability, non-anonymous authors, some mentions on stack overflow. This was an exception because we were stranded. Drankinatty's code compiled and worked immediately, bless him. I had your statement that V2 was stable and reliable. The rest was history.
