hippy, wouldn't that just come under personal use. This all started with the assumed sale of mods, someone adding M.2. connectors on for profit larger than a few friends, not you doing it DIY.I feel that the modding of 500s to add an M.2 socket is an opportunity to someone with the right skills and equipment to make a shedload of cash.
It is ridiculous to suggest that it is illegal to hack your own stuff. Nor to have someone help you hack your stuff and accept money for the services.

You pay people to fit the gas, wire a house and pay them. similar with cars.
They should be doing it all above board and withing regulations even if it is your own house and fully belongs to you. If something happens, it will fall back on the person doing the 'mod', that why you can't help fix someone's cycle anymore as they can the sue you (yes this does happen in the UK unfortunately). It's why everyone needs liability insurance to sharpen a mate's pencil nowadays
