Thank you for your answer. I see, using the bridge driver makes more sense.
I cannot find anything else in the datasheet related to set the output mode as you say, so I think it only should be necessary to set the mode through the mode pins. I guess the IC does the rest.
How would one send the initialization sequence required by the MIPI DBI Type B standard? I guess this isn't handled by the Toshiba IC as well?
If I understand I probably have to rewrite the panel-simple driver.
I think I will order some ICs or see if I can get the board for the RPI Display if possible. This is just for a personal project so EOL does not matter. Looks like they are available through AliExpress etc. (just hope they are genuine...).
