I believe this is the default for a pi5?

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ vcgencmd get_config usb_max_current_enable
usb_max_current_enable=1

I got my pi5 from Canakit and it came with a 45w usb-c power supply.
Looking at their website, their Pi 5 supply does have the 5V@5A mode so that it what should be being negotiated.

The override just allows the Pi 5 to attempt to supply more current via the USB ports. It is totally up to you to ensure the power supply is providing enough power to do so. The supply you mention should be running the USB ports in high current mode, so should be capable of providing more power than the 4B was.
